Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect personal information across three groups: people who visit this site, people who represent our partners, and people who appear or speak in the content we license.
1. Who this policy covers
Datacline Ltd ("MediaMotion", "we", "us") operates this website and a data-licensing platform connecting media networks with AI model builders. This policy explains how we handle personal information for three distinct groups, because our business touches each differently:
- Site visitors — anyone browsing mediamotion.ai or submitting a contact form
- Partner contacts — representatives of data providers, model builders and other organisations we deal with
- Content data subjects — presenters, performers, callers and guests whose voices or likenesses appear in the broadcast, radio or podcast content we license and process
If you are a South African data subject, our companion POPIA Notice sets out the specific disclosures required under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013, and should be read alongside this policy.
2. Information we collect
From site visitors
When you submit a contact form, we collect your name, organisation, email address, the option you selected (e.g. "Model builder", "Data provider"), and whatever you write in the message field. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site, and we do not use cookies beyond what your browser stores locally for its own functioning.
From partner contacts
Once a conversation moves beyond the contact form, we collect the information needed to run a licensing relationship: business contact details, signatory details for agreements, and payment or banking details where a revenue share is owed to a data provider.
From licensed content
The audio and video we license was recorded by our media-network partners in the ordinary course of broadcasting, and may contain the voices, speech and — for video — likenesses of presenters, performers, callers and guests. We do not collect this information directly from those individuals; we receive it from data providers under licence, together with their representation that the content was lawfully recorded and cleared for this use.
3. How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and provide sample data sets or catalogue audits
- To negotiate, execute and administer licensing agreements
- To process licensed content — language identification, speaker diarisation, transcription, translation, word-level alignment and redaction — so it can be delivered to licensed buyers
- To detect and prevent misuse of delivered data, including fingerprinting to identify unauthorised redistribution
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use content data to build our own AI models or products beyond the processing described above.
4. Who we share information with
- Licensed buyers — model builders who license a data set receive the processed content and its associated metadata, under a licence that restricts use to AI model development and prohibits redistribution
- Service providers — cloud storage, transcription tooling and payment processors that we use to run the pipeline, bound by confidentiality and data-processing terms
- Data providers — where a downstream licence is sold, we report usage back to the relevant rights-holder as required by our licensing agreements
- Legal and regulatory bodies — where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims
5. International transfers
Our processing hubs are in South Africa. Licensed buyers may be located outside South Africa, including frontier AI labs and startups in other jurisdictions. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we do so under licence terms that bind the recipient to purpose limitation, security and confidentiality obligations at least equivalent to those described in this policy.
6. Retention
We retain site-visitor and partner-contact information for as long as needed to manage the relationship and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and accounting obligations. Licensed content is retained for the term of the relevant licensing agreement and any downstream licences already granted; on termination of a provider relationship, undelivered material is deleted and deletion is confirmed in writing.
7. Security
We restrict access to personal information to staff and contractors who need it to do their work, encrypt data in transit and at rest for cloud-stored content, and apply redaction to personally identifiable information — names, phone numbers and addresses — in phone-in and call-in recordings before delivery to buyers.
8. Your rights
If you are a site visitor or partner contact, you may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to a particular use of it, by writing to privacy@mediamotion.ai.
If you are a presenter, performer, caller or guest who believes your voice or likeness appears in content we have licensed, see our POPIA Notice for how to request exclusion, redaction or further information — the same channel applies regardless of where you are located.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page as our practices evolve and will change the "last updated" date above when we do. Material changes affecting content data subjects or partner agreements will be communicated directly where we have a way to reach you.
10. Contact us
Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your personal information, can be sent to privacy@mediamotion.ai. We aim to respond within two working days.
